Developments in pultrusion technology is facilitating wind blade length. However, OEMs face multiple barriers in relation to the adoption of these processes. In this presentation we look at sparcap technology and associated production methods, alongside a selection of business case scenarios for 80 metre blades. An overview of the wind sector supply chain, carbon fibre usage (in relation to current volumes) and predictions for 2025 are also detailed. The introduction of new technologies in blade manufacture is also considered factoring in TRL (technology readiness levels).
