There are many benefits to using composites in marine applications. They are strong, lightweight and corrosion free. However, there is considerable debate around their environmental impact. Our objective is to support our clients in defining their sustainable objectives, quantify the expected effects and guide their transition towards best practice.

Suppliers are looking to implement sustainability in their designs, processes, material choices and company values. At STRUCTeam we support all our clients in the development of high performance, composite applications with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions and the adoption of sustainable manufacturing processes wherever possible.

CompoSIDE Software

CompoSIDE is STRUCTeam’s integrated suite of web-based design engineering modules for composite marine applications. This software creates a platform for design engineers in composite applications to develop their own structures through a systematic and dependable process.

Recent updates to the software have been developed to support naval architects, marine engineers and design teams define hull construction and scantlings for vessels under 24m.

The Yacht Designer subscription is fully inclusive of the revised ISO 12215-5:2019 standard and provides seamless interaction between modules, including YACHTScant and FESpace. This allows users to combine design optimisation and ISO compliance with monohull small craft – hull construction and scantlings.

Key features include:

  • Marine scantling ISO 12215-5:2019
  • YACHTScant & FESpace
  • Default materials library
  • Ply-by-ply laminate modelling and analysis (CLT)
  • FEA for panels and beams
  • Composite beams and section modelling
  • Bill of materials

Information regarding subscription plans can be found here.
