The need to deliver green and sustainable energy solutions presents uncapped opportunities for the wind energy sector. However, it must, in turn, focus on minimising its environmental impact through the adoption of sustainable materials and practices. This presentation examines and assesses the end-of-life value propositions of today’s resin systems, and tomorrow’s alternatives suitable for the manufacture of wind turbine blades. The opportunities and challenges associated with each resin system are discussed, the chemical processing, the pathway to recycling, and the considerations and implications for OEMs and wind farm owners.
